Lake Vrana is the largest lake in Croatia, located in the Biograd na Moru municipality in the northern part of Dalmatia region. It covers an area of 30.7 square kilometers and reaches a depth of 64 meters. The lake is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a narrow strip of land and is connected to the sea through subterranean channels. Its water is mostly brackish, as it is influenced by seawater.
Lake Vrana is an important natural reserve and a habitat for various bird species, including the rare and endangered species of the Eurasian bittern and the ferruginous duck. The lake is also a popular destination for fishing, mainly for carp and pike. Visitors can explore the lake and its surrounding area by boat, bike or on foot. The area around the lake is rich in archaeological sites, including a Roman temple and early Christian basilicas.
